Try a Real C2PA Sample

The tool's Try a sample image button loads adobe-20220124-CA.jpg from the C2PA public test files. It is a 1024 × 683 JPEG with embedded Content Credentials. You can inspect it, download a cleaned copy, and compare the report yourself.

Our local check removes its embedded C2PA package while keeping the encoded image payload, dimensions, and decoded pixels unchanged. This legacy interoperability sample is not a current Photoshop Generative Fill export, and it does not demonstrate how a social platform will label your photo.

Record Your Photoshop Export Before Comparing

For a result you can reproduce, note your Photoshop version, the edit you made, the export command, the file format, and the Content Credentials option you selected. Keep that original export alongside the cleaned copy.

Scan the original export, review exactly which fields were found, and compare the cleaned file's report. Check the picture's dimensions, color, and orientation too. A result from one export does not establish what every Photoshop version or save option will do.

What to Check in the Export

Photographers often ask whether a Photoshop action such as Generative Fill, or an edit they later undid, caused an AI Info notice. There is no stable tool-name checklist for every Photoshop version and export path.

Use Photoshop's current export options to review how Content Credentials will be handled, then scan the actual JPG or PNG you plan to share. That is more reliable than inferring metadata from the editing step alone.

A Small Retouch Is Different From a Fully Generated Image

Community discussions often come from photographers who removed a distraction, extended a crop, or repaired a small area in a photo they shot. Their concern is that viewers or clients may read an AI label as proof that the whole image was generated.

The scan cannot make that judgment. It reports supported fields in the exported file; it does not estimate the percentage of generated pixels or decide whether the photograph is authentic.

Why a Photoshop Export Can Carry AI-related Information

  • Adobe documents export choices that can attach Content Credentials, publish them to its cloud, or omit them from supported exports.
  • An AI-assisted edit can be recorded as part of provenance or editing history without describing the whole image as generated.
  • A cleaned copy changes supported metadata only; it does not reverse the visible Photoshop edit.

Questions the Export Leaves Open

  • Undoing or deleting a layer does not prove what metadata is present in the final export.
  • Removing an embedded credential does not remove a credential stored elsewhere.
  • A clean verification table does not promise a particular platform label.
